Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) has urged Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough to engage in a discussion regarding the implementation of the Oracle Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (Lovell FHCC) in North Chicago, Illinois. Expressing concerns about potential complications and seeking clarity, Rep. Steil emphasized the importance of ensuring that the issues with the EHR system have been effectively addressed before deployment at Lovell FHCC.

In a letter addressed to Secretary McDonough, Rep. Steil highlighted the significance of maintaining the quality and availability of care for Wisconsin veterans. He stated, "Thousands of Wisconsin veterans rely on the VA to provide care, which is why we cannot afford to jeopardize the quality and availability of care to any veteran." The Congressman emphasized the need for detailed information on the EHR system issues and their resolutions, as well as requested contacts and resources to be shared with his constituents.

"It is imperative that I develop a full understanding of how this project has been altered for my constituents to ensure Southeastern Wisconsin veterans are afforded the care they have earned and deserve with no disruptions," Rep. Steil added in the letter. He expressed his anticipation for a prompt response from the VA leadership regarding the resolution of EHR system issues.

The engagement from Congressman Steil underscores his commitment to advocating for the healthcare needs of veterans in Wisconsin's First District. As veterans in the region rely on the services provided by Lovell FHCC, Rep. Steil's proactive approach aims to address potential challenges and safeguard the delivery of essential care services.

The call for discussion initiated by Rep. Steil serves as a proactive measure to ensure the seamless implementation of the EHR system at Lovell FHCC, ultimately prioritizing the well-being and healthcare access of veterans in Southeastern Wisconsin.
